WHY CHOOSE
STAINLESS STEEL
What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel is a versatile and durable metal alloy composed mainly of iron, chromium, and other elements such as nickel and manganese. This combination gives the stainless material a number of unique properties that make it extremely suitable for a wide variety of applications, including the luxury stainless steel pools produced by IXON.
Because of its resistance to corrosion and rust, stainless steel is particularly suitable for use in wet and aggressive environments, such as swimming pools. Its exceptional durability and ease of maintenance make it a popular choice for luxury stainless pools, where aesthetics and long-lasting performance are critical. In addition, stainless steel is known for its ability to withstand temperature changes and weathering, ensuring that IXON pools maintain their beauty and functionality over time.
Due to its unique properties, stainless steel has become the material of choice for IXON‘s luxury pools, offering buyers an unparalleled swimming experience and timeless elegance.
What are the types of stainless steel for stainless pools?
Stainless steel is a highly versatile material valued for its many applications and exceptional properties. Among the various types of stainless steel, austenitic steels are often the preferred choice for swimming pool construction. These steels are nonmagnetic and have an austenitic crystal structure that offers excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation formation. Because of these characteristics, austenitic steels are ideal for the humid and corrosive environment of swimming pools, providing durability and low maintenance.
However, stainless steel finds use in many other areas besides swimming pools. Ferritic stainless steels, for example, which are magnetic and have good corrosion resistance, are often used in applications that require higher mechanical strength, such as the automotive industry and tool manufacturing. Martensitic steels, known for their high mechanical properties, are used in parts subject to intense mechanical stress, such as knife blades and machine components.
Duplex stainless steels, on the other hand, combine the characteristics of austenitics and ferritics, offering good corrosion and stress corrosion resistance, along with high mechanical strength. These steels are commonly used in industries such as the oil and gas industry, marine engineering, and offshore equipment manufacturing.
In general, stainless material is a popular choice for many applications because of its corrosion resistance, durability, ease of cleaning and maintenance. Its versatility makes it suitable for so many industries, including construction, automotive, electronics, energy, furniture and many others.
What are the advantages of stainless steel?
Stainless steel is widely appreciated for a number of advantages that make it an ideal choice for luxury swimming pools and many other applications. Its corrosion resistance is particularly noteworthy, as it ensures the durability of swimming pools by requiring less maintenance than other materials. In addition, its durability and ability to maintain performance even under extreme conditions make it a reliable investment for buyers.
Aesthetically, steel gives a modern and elegant look to stainless steel pools, contributing to an atmosphere of luxury and sophistication. Ease of cleaning and maintenance is an added advantage, with surfaces that can be easily kept clean and shiny with little effort. The material’s resistance to temperature variations and sustainability add further points in favor of stainless steel as an environmentally friendly and quality choice for a stainless pool at IXON and for quality- and reliability-conscious buyers.
AISI 316 and 304 steel differences
Which one is best for your stainless steel pool?
Stainless steel is a metal alloy composed mainly of iron, chromium and other elements such as nickel and molybdenum. Two of the most common types of stainless steel are AISI 304 and AISI 316L, which differ mainly in their chemical composition and performance.
AISI 304 is an austenitic alloy containing about 18 percent chromium and about 8 percent nickel, along with small amounts of carbon and other elements. It is widely used for its good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in non-aggressive environments.
AISI 316L is a variant of AISI 316, which adds a reduced carbon content (indicated by the “L” for “low carbon”) to improve weldability. This alloy contains about 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and about 2-3% molybdenum. The presence of molybdenum gives AISI 316L greater corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments, such as salt water and chlorine-treated swimming pools.
Although AISI 316L may cost slightly more than AISI 304, higher initial investments are often justified by the greater durability and reliability offered by AISI 316L. Its superior corrosion resistance reduces the risk of structural damage and extends the useful life of the stainless steel pool, ensuring a high-quality, long-term solution for buyers.
